1965 Vintage Reproduction Strat Pickup Set -  If you'd like to get those vintage Hendrix era tones, this is the set for you. The set includes all three pickups. They have a very clear, piano like, pure vintage strat kind of tone. This set is derived from a custom set that I made for a player/songwriter friend that wanted to duplicate as precicsely as possible the specs of the 1965 models. He also sent me numerous MP3's and you-tube selections with short 3-5 second passages noted that had the tones he sought.  We worked together quite a while, tried various things, and finally came up with this set, which he thought really nailed it. He also said it was one of the only sets he had ever tried that had a truly usable middle pickup. All the while he emailed dozens of sound demos back and forth and we tweaked things on the design. To get the specs exact I had to grind down some of my magnets to length to match vintage dimensions. Another thing we did was playing around with the plain enamel wire diameter and winding specs. The customer was quite impressed with the final result and happened to show it to his brother, who immediately ordered a duplicate set for himself. He also was excited enough to post sound clips on some facebook amp group forums. One of the other keys to getting that vintage tone is to use the same capacitor value and type that Fender used in the middle 60's. The set includes a reproduction capacitor made from a new old stock capacitor from that era, just the same construction as the originals and carefully re-symbolized by me to look identical to the originals.  I was lucky enough after much searching to snag a bunch of them made in the early 70's from a surplus electronics dealer. Though this started out as a custom job, there has been enough demand that I have custom ordered magnets made up to my specs and am offering it as a stock product, exactly the same as I sent to the original customer and his brother.
